Is it possible to Unlock Iphone 3GS prior to activation?

Hi there, I’ve just bought a new iphone 3GS but it is currently locked to O2. I want to unlock it to use Vodafone but when I plug it into the computer it is unable to make the initial registration because the SIM is locked to O2. Is it possible to unlock the phone prior to registration or is there any way around this without getting an O2 SIM? Any help much appreciated

Yes – although you’ll need to find out what iOS and boot you’re currently running/on.

You can do it for free; go to Answernode.com – it has got a free unlocking software up; there’s a Mac version and a Windows version though so choose the right one.
