The iPhone OS version 2.0 introduced the ability to integrate location data in the images, producing photographs geocoded.

The iPhone 3G has a 3.2 megapixel camera, manufactured by OmniVision, with autofocus, auto white balance and auto macro (up to 10 cm). It is also capable of capturing 640×480 (VGA) video at 30 frames per second (without flash) but compared with high-end CCD camera-based video that shows the effect blinds. The video can be grown in the same device and directly uploaded to YouTube, MobileMe and other services.

The Iphone 4 introduced a 5.0 megapixel camera (2592×1936 pixels), also located on the back, which is equipped with a backlight sensor system capable of capturing images in low light, autofocus (with the Tap- Apple To-Focus, which lets you focus on any point in a photo or while recording a video, touch screen) and an LED flash can be operated for recording video at 720p resolution, which is considered high definition. Once recorded the videos can be uploaded directly to services like YouTube, MobileMe, or Vimeo. Also, the iPhone 4 has a second camera on the front capable of photo and video recording VGA SD.

The iPhone includes software that allows users to upload, view and send photos via email. The user employs the zoom on the photos by pressing or releasing multi-touch interface (double click). The software interacts with iPhoto and the Mac software or opening in PhotoShop software on Windows. In version 2.0 of the iPhone OS, users can enable the location of data to be integrated in the tables that produce pictures of the Earth.

Flickr, the social network of the world’s largest photograph, is one of the places where the iPhone’s camera is taking a second place ranking in use because it is the camera from which users share more pictures.
